  • COMMENTS:
This customer purchased a Pioneer am/fm radio and cd player with bluetooth. He came back to the dealership the day after he took possession of the vehicle, stating that he purchased a am/fm, cd, blutooth stereo, with Onstar/GPS. The sound system he purchased features a screen display. Being it resembled a vehicle equipped with Onstar GPS, because of the "touch screen" feature, he assumed the system had Onstar/GPS capability. We informed the customer the sound system was only that, a "sound system" and that onstar/GPS was not a feature that was built into that particular system. We also informed the customer that we would be glad to update his system to one that includes onstar/GPS at a discounted rate, but he refused. He got very loud and angry in the show room, even doubled up his fists at one of my managers, threatening to "whip his a**". We finally told him we were going to call the police. He left shortly thereafter. Later he disputed the charge with his credit card company. The funds have been debited from our bank account. We are still trying to get the funds back. In the mean time, he still has the stereo and will not return our calls.

  • COMMENTS:
A chargeback was filed against this transaction. We tried to fight it, but lost $550. I didn't add the billing name of the customer to this post, because someone more than likely stold the credit card. We called the local law in the Harrison area, but received no assistance at all. We'll just have to write this one off!

Internet fraud is at an all time high. There were more reports of internet shopping website fraud loss, due to consumers placing orders with someone else's credit card last year than ever before!

Last year internet businesses suffered a total of $190 billion in fraud loss. The days of approving an order if your merchant bank AVS address response states that the delivery address matches the billing address are over! Identity thieves are becoming increasingly successful at even changing the billing address of credit card accounts. When trying to recover the lost merchandise that was shipped, many internet dealers simply are forced to suffer the loss, because of the lack of response from law enforcement authorities. Screen your internet orders for possible fraud before processing them, by searching PatronCheck's massive database of shared information for name and address combinations, addresses only, and/or phone numbers, and or email addresses. Members report losses after shipping an order, which resulted in a chargeback loss. In addition, we encourage you to register to gain the ability to post as well.
